BRILLIANT INHERITANCE: A REVIEW
Okay I need to decide for a format for these things but is just that is more like a rant? So they kinda come and go as they wish. So okay lets get this over with.

THE CHARACTERS: Since this kdrama is awfully long, I actually learned most of the main char names: Eun Sung is poor rich girl, Hwan is MegaJerk, Sung Mi is Evil stepsis, Eun Woo is the autistic bro.. aaand the rest are Evil stepmom, mr nice, annoying sister and annoying mother, aaand AWESOME grandma.
So yeah, long ass drama is 25 chapters long. BUT I didnt mind since the story developed well in that time so it was all good there.
THE STORY: Eun Sung's life is perfect. She has a loving dad, nice stepmom and stepsis, an autistic brother who plays piano; lives in a freakin condo, studies abroad in good bussiness school, has a boyfriend, so y'see, she makes a mistake there, everybody knows that if youre THAT happy on a drama, youre bound to go down hill FAST. ON FLAMES. WHILE YOU WATCH THE LOVE OF YOUR LIFE MURDER PUPPIES OR SOMETHING.
And yeah, as she comes back to Seoul to announce her dad that her bratty self is not satisfied with a bussiness career and she rather study kitchenry (her cooking skills arent that mad and she was studying that for what? 2 years? Sweetie you most be a pro by now); her father dies, the family's company goes bankrupt and she discovers her stepmom is the evilest stepmom in the whole Korea while she gets kicked out of the house (which is sold to pay for daddy's loans) with her autistic brother with like, no money. Woe IS Eun Sung.
Of course thats just not it. Obviously not. The cherry on her crazy top is: Hwan. Heir of a fast food chain of restaurants. Hes the most annoying mean jerk there is. You see, when she came from the americas (it was never said WHICH part), Hwan mistakingly grabs Eun Sung bag at the airplane and she takes his. But OH WOE IS EUNG SUNG, the present for her dad is IN DA BAG! And his dad's bday is like, tommorrow! So she gets in contact with Hwan, whos all like "you stole my bag how dare you I wont give yours back you suck go hell and die!" So it was like that when BAM! Her dad dies.
Back to the whole dad dying thing: so Eun Sung EEEVIL stepmom, decides that if the dad is already in bankrupt, why the hell she wont take all the insurance and keep it to herself, cause y'know, she SACRIFICED seven years of her life to be a trophy wife to Eun Sung dad SHE FREAKIN DESERVES IT! And she tells Eun Sung that they are moniless homeless and she better take her pretty ass out there and start producing the moneys or shes not gonna make it cause she aint taking care of no one.
BUT! Of course Evil stepmom is not evil! Dont let her confuse you with the lies and kicking out and evil music that always comes along when the camera focuses on her, shes doing it for Sung Mi, because shes going to marry a really rich heir and have rich babies but OF COURSE no one is going to if they find out shes the daughter of a two time widower and poor. Marrying is SERIOUS business in Korea people!!
So off goes Eun Sung, and bro. To the streets of Seoul, this part is pretty much boring cause is all about how Eun Sung whines about a) her father dying and b) being poor for the first time in her life. Cue in for trouble when: SHE LOSES THE MONEY EVIL STEPMOM GAVE HER. It was very little but still, IT WAS SOMETHIN. And now she has nothing.
So THEN, she remembers that she used to have poor friends! She should give them a call or something! And here we met AWESOME FRIEND. Shes like, the only character (other than the grandma) that Ive never wished to slap silly. And oh look at that, she remembers Eun Sung and yes! Shes still poor, but less poor than Eun Sung cause she knows the ropes of this deal and she has a tiny apartment but hey Eun Sung can stay along with her autistic bro! (You see, shes awesome AND kind.)
SO things happen, Mega Jerk is jerky to Eun Sung and in the process SHE LOSES HER BROTHER WTF?! So yeah, NOW you can say you have hit rock bottom dude!
So Eun Sung is now BEYOND emo sad, shes -God not even her knows what to feel anymore, and then she goes and starts living in a small depat~o restaurant oppa secretly gave her, since he doesnt have an autistic brother to take care anymore, and she goes to sell little rice cakes in the morning while looking for his brother in the afternoons and nights. So is her life until she meets a lovely old lady who is selling umm, brown cakes? next to her, well what basically happens is old lady goes crazy for a second there, goes after her dead son, gives a bad step and lands with her head. Ouch, I know!
So Eun Sung being the nice person she is, picks her up and takes her to the doctor, when old lady wakes up she doesnt remember where she lives or who she is or anything but is all PLEASE STAY WITH MEEE KIND STRANGER!!! Eun Sung complies. Better yet, she takes her to her tiny appartment, feeds her, buys her new clothes, you know, the works.
Turns out, old lady is AWESOME GRANDMA!! Who happens to be grandma of Mega Jerk?! Who also happens to be filthy rich and in desperate need of a heir!! Wait, what?
Yeah, to make story short, she puts Eun Sung to test, being the meanest old lady she can be, Eun Sung is all nice to her, so she decides to take her into her care, so she tells her she will help her find her bro if she comes to live with her. TO MEGA JERK HOUSE!!!
And OF COURSE all the family hates her. But thats not all, Evil Stepmom finds out and flips the fuck out! Shes all like NOOOOESS SHES GONNA SEDUCE MEGA JERK AND GET ALL HIS MONEY AND NOT MEE!!! (Srsly WTF? Is like, every adult in this show is OBSESSED with the love life of Eun Sung.)
So Eun Sung starts working for grandma company, as a waitress, and so does Mega Jerk, cause he needs to learn some manners... but I think is also because Grandma totally ships EunSung/HwanOppa I CAN TOTALLY TELL GRANDMA YOU CANT HIDE IT FROM ME!!!
So stuff happens, Evil stepmom and stepsis are well, evil. Eun Sung suffers. MegaJerk developes feelings for her and grandma re-writes her testament to put Eun Sung as her sole heir. WAY TO GO GRAN!!
AAAND then Evil Stepsis FIND OUT MEGA JERK HAS A THING FOR EUN SUNG AND ALL HELL IS LOOSE!!
There are fights and trips and oh well look at that, Mega Jerk turns into not so much of a jerk but a bratty guy and my God! I love him when he tries to be nice to Eun Sung cause it backfires at him and he ends up looking like more of a jerk D'AWWWW!!!
AND THEN! Grandma has a stroke!!
NO WAIT! IT WAS AN ANEURISM!!
And the family is all WE HATE YOU EUN SUNG DONT COME AND VISIT GRANDMA CAUSE YOURE TAKING ALL THE MONEY AND -oh yeah forgot to mention this earlier- WE KNOW YOU LIED TO GRANDMA AND YOU REALLY KNEW WHO SHE WAS CAUSE EVIL STEPMOM AND STEPSIS TOLD US!! AND HELL I BET WITH YOUR SUPERPOWERS YOU CAUSED GRANDMA TO STROKE AND GET ALZHEIMER YEAH!!
AHAHAHAHA I LOVE grandma's face when they finally wake up and see her staring at them, I SEE WHAT YOU DID THAR GRANDMA!!
So everyone hates Eun Sung, EXCEPT Mega Jerk and grandma. Which were like, the only two people that SHOULD hate her, according with evil stepmom plans, but Hwan oppa (aka: Mega Jerk), is all like, dude, I know those were lies cause you TOLD ME you have never told Eun Sung about me, and she has like told us the truth since day one, so he IS smart! HA TAKE THAT EVIL STEPSIS!!
SO Hwan oppa finds Eun Woo playing a church piano, cause there are like, 2 churches in the whole Korea I guess? I dont know, he went looking for him and FOUND him THATS THE POWER OF POSITIVE THINKING FOR Y'ALL.
Dude, I dont care what restaurant man did for Eun Sung in the past, Hwan oppa just like OUT FUKIN DID HIM by finding the brother.
Ohhh pooor Sung Mi, is burning stuff at playgrounds... Im pretty sure thats illegal but I guess shes past caring. Cause she realized she would never ever be able to be with Hwan oppa, since those two had fallen for each other. Woe is you Evil Stepsis.
AJAJAJA FAMILY MEETING TIME!!! Sung Mi expression makes me LOL HARD!

DUUUUUDES, though I hate Evil Stepsis, I think that Evil stepmom killing herself would be like the last drop she could stand. Give the poor girl a break!
IN CONCLUSION: No, that wasnt the complete synopsis, because A LOT goes on in that drama. What can I say is that it has really good acting despite the plot sometimes being dramatically ridiculous. The plot doesnt feel forced, but I think thats because, as I said, theres A LOT going on and it does keep you on the edge of your seat.
THE BAD:
Hwan wasnt handsome. And for korean standards thats a terrible flaw.
So far all the korean dramas and movies Ive seen have had ubber hot lead actors, and though he sang well and played the guitar, he didnt do it enough to make me forget about him being ugly. Though, he DID deliver a good performance, you do hate him at the beginning and you do love him at the end, and again, it doesnt feel like its being forced to be that way, at least it doesnt for me.
The ending was very anti climaxing. I think they could have resolved some subplots earlier, because by the time I had to watch the last episode I didnt care anymore how it turned out. I feel the abused the trhill of the plot a little too much.
Besides, Hwan and Eun Sung dont really end up toghether, not really, and by the whole roller coaster the drama had taken you with those two, we the fans kinda deserved some closure; I mean, I dont feel like there was a closure in there. When it should had.
