Awakening with the crack of dawn, Sir Thomas Leaf drove back to work for another long day. Very glad that his “
Isis Adventure Thru Time” vardo was working fine as he volted from Old Colorado City to Fort Carson. Another 13 hour day in the lab, finishing up projects, maps, and sites. Late that evening, he changed into his gothy finest to attend the Zodiac Lounge (formerly the Rocket Room) for their new “Goth” night and as a last minute farewell for him to head off Down Under for his
walkabout. At 8 pm he left work for the bar … only two others were there when he arrived but soon enough, his good friend Lady Jenni of most recent from the Emerald City joined him for drinks. Drinking and catching up he was quite pleased. Then the Earth guardian Lady Sarah joined, as well as Lady Nanette, Sir Chris and Lady Sheila of the Palmer Clan, Mistress Satori and a handful of others. Good cheers, good drinks all around. As the clock struck midnight, Sir Thomas Leaf was off for sleep as he would be up at the crack of dawn once again.

The clock was ticking as his departure was soon to come. Sir Thomas Leaf went back to the lab and finished another 12 hour day wrapping up his cartography projects, maps, and working on writing a guide on GIS, Curation, and Data Management. Almost complete he thought. That evening was spent finishing up his final packing, organizing his gear for the adventure of a lifetime. He was soon off to Australia.
Thursday, 7th April 2011 * Colorado Springs-Denver, Colorado
Up early, he had his gear and belongings packed up from his stay with Captain Relief’s infamous Booty Girl “Absinthe Alli” as he packed them into the “
Isis Adventure Thru Time” vardo. On to his last day at work, last day driving on to the base, and last day as a military scientist: archaeologist. Today was Sir Thomas Leaf’s final day in the lab. He felt waves of anxiety, stress, glee, joy, and excitement. The morning was spent wrapping up the Manual - which he “almost” finished, minus chapters on “barcoding” and “accessioning” but realized it would have to do. At lunchtime, his crew took him out to “Little Nepal” for a going away all-u-can-eat Indian lunch buffet. Stuffed to the brim, Sir Thomas was content as he was fared a “Bon Voyage” a final time from Sir Walkenhorst, Lady Kendra, Sir Kacey, Lady Nancielee, Lady Diane, and Lady Linda. That afternoon he turned in his wildland fire protection gear and pack, Satellite radio with charger and clip, Military CAC card, facility keys, vehicle certificate and signed out. A final cleanup and sweep of his office space he was soon into the “
Isis Adventure Thru Time” vardo and off to his RV to drop off some final gear and long term storage. He was soon on the road to Denver - the first long distance trip in it since all the auto repairs as of late. A pitstop in Castle Rock for gas, a energy drink, and an escape from agressive truckers on the Interstate. In Denver, he swung by Lady Absinthe Alli’s folk’s house to borrow their luggage scale to weigh his bags. Then on to a last dinner with Absinthe Alli at Kokoro for Sake, Miso Soup, Seaweed Salad, a Spider Roll, and soybeans. Sweet farewells and she was on the road for the Springs while Sir Thomas Leaf was off to Sir Guy and Rockbear’s house. Good times catching up with Sir Guy and awaiting for Sir Rockbear to coordinate airport arrangements. A good shower and sleep as tomorrow the adventurer would be off on his expedition and
walkabout.
Friday, 8th April 2011 * Denver, Colorado to
Los Angeles, California via
LAX.
Early to rise, breakfas from Sir Guy, Sir Thomas quickly packed up his adventure gear to prepare for his journey. Sir Rockbear awoke to assist Sir Thomas and drop him off at the Denver Air Dragon court where he was to board an air dragon for
L.A.X Security went smooth, as once again, he was not body scanned though the few ahead of him were. He has yet escaped the body scanner for the last 8 flights he has done around the states and Europe since they implemented it. It was a very small crowded Air dragon that wasn’t very comfortable. But his Osprey pack and sachel fit fine while checking his large backback. A few hours later he was touching down in the City of Lost Angels. It was here, after some traffic delays, that his brother the mad Doctor Mangor and Lady Tara picked him up from the airport during his 6 hour layover. The layover got cut short due to traffic congestion and airline delays, but the crew hit the beach for some waves and ocean air, and a stop at the Brazilian Cafe for some delicious cuisine of shrimp and pasta, fried yucca, and flan. Good times catching up, he was soon off to the Airport to board Qantas for Brisbane, Australia.
