The Differences Between Resident Evil 3 (PSX) and Resident Evil 3 (PC)

I thought I would write this as I couldn't easily find anything on the internet documenting the differences between the original Playstation version of Resident Evil 3 and the PC port. (released by Xplosiv)

The two versions are exactly the same story wise although controlling the game on the PC is slightly more difficult (with very limited gamepad ( Read more... )

Oooh! this is pretty interesting. You should do the differences in RE2 on PS and 64. I have both versions but I hate hate hate hate hate the controls for the PS version. The 64 versions graphics also are a bit cleaner AND you have the option to choose either Leon or Claire to play first whereas the PS version makes you start with Leon. LAME. Definitely more replay value in choosing one player over the other first and then playing again vice versa.

ALSO it'd be cool to see if there are any differences between Code Veronica on XBL and on PS2. Going to tackle that one myself soon. Not sure there will be anything different though, might be something subtle? Who knows!

I'm posting here instead of the RE community you originall posted in because that community sucks.

Thanks redfield79 :), I am new to LJ and have only the smallest idea of how to post to communities and such, will attempt to add this to stars!

As for the differences in RE2 for PS and N64, I have no idea as I never played the N64 version, but do own the PSX ver.

I do think that the PSX version lets you select your character, but is done via which disc is inserted to your console? (RE2, has two discs on PlayStation, disc one - Leon and two - Claire)

I really do like RE4, eventhough alot of the cool features and styles from the earlier games is completely missing. Sadly I think RE4 needed the inclusion of more headscrathing puzzles, seems like more of an action game.

EDIT: Posted to the stars community.

Yeah, you can definitely start the PSX version as Claire. For ages I thought you were only allowed to play Leon first, since his disc is marked as Disc 1, but one day I left the Claire disc in the tray by accident after a complete play-through, and started a new file there, and was blown away by all the little changes! Haha.

Anyways just wanted to say thanks for this post. I've been curious about the PC version of Resident Evil 3, and have been replaying the PSX version lately. Shame about the lack of good gamepad support, but I'll give it a try someday soon.

I just had a look into the games bio3.ini/BioKey.ini file (I have the Xplosiv release of the game, if that helps?), the game has these game pads listed in the files, Microsoft SideWinder Freestyle Pro, Microsoft SideWinder Game Pad, Microsoft SideWinder Precision Pro, Microsoft SideWinder Force Feedback Pro and Q-Mark USB Game Device.

Any of the controllers listed should work, I just don't own any of them myself!

Also @dreamlink, I can totally understand you thinking Leon is only playable at first. I looked at the game and the discs are not labeled as either "Leon or Claire's" disc, just disc one and two with the different art for each character.
