On the third day of the visit Kristin, Lois, Dave and I drove to Atlantic City. Obviously a city on the Atlantic coast. It had huge hotels and casinos. I don't think I've ever seen anything like this, not even on Galveston island.
The weird thing about it all was that outside of the hotel/casino area the city had a kind of slum-look with poorly maintained houses. So yeah, that was a weird contrast to all the new looking hotels.
In the beginning it was cloudy and foggy, but then in the afternoon it got sunny with close to Houston temperatures... or at least it felt that way.
We didn't really do anything... just walked around and took pictures. You can't play in the casinos unless you're 21 years or older, so the others were polite and didn't leave me outside. Crap, why is 16 too young for everything here!?
So yeah, it was cool going to the Atlantic coast. Now I've touched water from the Pacific, Atlantic and Gulf coast, hep hey! And I finally saw a place that sold freedom fries instead of French fries.
In the evening we all went with Kristin's friends to South Street. That was pretty much like Strøget in Århus, except cars were allowed to drive there.
It'd be cool to come back when I'm 21 and go to all the bars and clubs they have on that street. Oh yeah.
After Dave and Lois went home the rest of us got a late dinner. I finally ate a Philly cheese steak, which Kristin had talked A LOT about.
I think we went back to University City sometime around midnight. From UC we walked to Carol's apartment.
Hanging out there was probably the most hilarious part of my Philly visit.
Andrew and Mike played tetris and some old bird shooting game on the nintendo.
Kristin and Carol played beer pong... definitely something I gotta import to DK.
It was also the first time I had seen Kristin drunk, that was funny. I wish their beer had been a little better... then I'd have played beer pong too. Yeah I shouldn't have kept myself dry that night. But whatever.
It wasn't until 4 am that we went to bed. So I don't think I got more than 6 hours sleep that night. Yeah during my entire Philly visit I was pretty badly sleep deprived. But whatever, it was an awesome day!
