Its my last night in Oklahoma before flying back to California tomorrow morning. It's been a good trip but it lasted too long - I think future trips here shouldn't last more than 10 days at the most.
This weekend I was in Dallas visiting Jess and Cody. I drove down on Friday evening and met Jess at her apartment. We quickly exchanged gifts (we got each other booze :P) and then went out for a late dinner. We got back to the apartment and attempted to watch Labyrinth (Jess had never seen it) but we both fell asleep in the middle so we stopped it and just went to bed. The next morning we woke up, grabbed breakfast, and then watched the rest of Labyrinth. Jess enjoyed it a lot, as bad as it is :) After the movie, I showed Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog to her which she really enjoyed. Once that was done, it was time to get ready to go to our friend's wedding. The wedding was beautiful and it was nice to see my friends there. After the wedding, we went shopping for a new iPod for Jess since her old one had recently died. She chose a blue iPod nano - very beautiful - and then we were off to have dinner with Cody in Frisco. The pub we were in was celebrating an early New Years so they had party hats and noise makers on the tables so we had a lot of fun playing with those. After dinner, Jess and I went back to her apartment where we watched some TV before going to bed. Sunday we woke up and did some more shopping - I found some nice clothes for not too expensive at Target of all places - and met Mary for lunch. It was really nice to see Mary - it had been a while - and to catch up with her. I miss having them close by. Maybe one day we'll be close again? Mary is moving to New York City after she graduates and there is a strong possibility I'll wind up there someday :) Sunday night I drove up to Denton where I met Cody and Stoney at their apartment. We immediately departed for their friend's house where a group had assembled for dinner and games. We stayed for a couple hours, playing a bluffing game, before heading back to Stoney's apartment where we chilled and visited for a bit before bed. This morning we woke up and grabbed breakfast before Stoney had to work and then Cody and I visited for a bit longer before I left to drive back to OKC. All in all, it was a really fun trip but made me miss my Dallas friends a lot. I wish traveling between California and Texas/Oklahoma were somehow much easier and cheaper. Can I have a star-trek inspired transporter??
I'm really looking forward to being back in California. I've missed Justin a lot, especially while I was in Dallas, and it'll be really nice to have him close again. I've also missed my apartment - since my parents moved to Oklahoma, I've never thought of their house as my home. I don't have my own room or my own space here, things I have back in California. Also, I have a lot of work to do for my second year paper for the start of the quarter and I can never get much work done when I'm at my parents' house so it'll be nice to be back in a productive space for that.
friends,
christmas,
justin
