I think I'm going to do the holiday thing. Amoung other things, one of the ways to get a long visa in Thailand is to have a manager of a company recommend you. They can only do this once per year, but if Audi or Ten can't, maybe they know someone who can.
My rep appears to be some combo of A and B, though A is sometimes compromised if I'm stressed. B seems to be the active ingredient here, which I'm taking as a huge compliment. Many Farangs have tried to tell me that the Thais only want you for your money. That's utter bullshit. It depends on the Thai and on you. At this point, -none- of these people are getting paid, and at best they're getting a free drink or two and a chance to hear me rant. And they're sticking around. The motorcycle guy in Pattaya (Jon) who makes a whopping $9 per day if he's lucky was inviting me over for dinner with his family before I left.
Personal relationships are big in Thai history. I suspect that works well with my personality.
