Hello again, dear readers! Just taking a moment to briefly say something before another month passes. I'm pleased to announce that I passed my training with flying colors and am now approved in another skill set for PHD. I now know three of the six total skill sets, and am trained in both "duck" roles. Just call me Duck King!
With the rehearsals over, my schedule and after-work routines should return to normal. The only current news of note is that someone I normally get along with decently at work is being excessively annoying lately, in show and out. I wish I enjoyed those times more while they lasted, when everyone gets along fine, because I can't seem to avoid a dry spell like this for long, and it creeps into my work. I hate to say it, but sometimes I'm glad I wasn't born Bhuddist, because it's pretty hard for me to let go of it when someone around me keeps acting like a little puke.
And on a sad note, the entertainment world lost one of its most colorful characters today. Comedian Dom DeLuise died in his sleep on May 4 at the age of 75, following a long battle with cancer. Amongst his many roles, Muppet fans fondly remember him as the wayward talent agent who discovers Kermit the Frog singing in the swamp in "The Muppet Movie", and encourages him to travel to Hollywood. DeLuise also appeared on The Muppet Show, and his comedic style was a hilariously perfect match there. Today on YouTube's Greatest Hits, I present a sampling of moments from this episode.
In this clip, DeLuise is a space explorer on the planet Koozebane who meets the Merdlidops.

For this second video, not only couldn't I find a clip that had just the sketch by itself, but it's not embeddable either. But don't let that stop you from checking it out; this is one of my all-time favorite Muppet spots. Here, DeLuise plays the director of a sort of orphanage for monsters. Feel free to watch the rest of the episode if you're so inclined. Rest in peace, Dom, we'll miss you.
Until next time.
