My god I am so FRUSTRATED/ANGRY/DISTRAUGHT. See, one of our benefits at work, in addition to regular things like health insurance and dental and etc.. is we've got "Flexible Reimbursement". That means we can take money out of our salary pre-tax for use specifically for health costs, or for daycare (possibly a few other things too, but those are the ones I know of). I'd set it up to take a certain amount out when I got hired, just like I chose my health insurance provider, and made quite a number of other choices regarding my benefits. But see, you can't make changes to these settings except during "Open Enrollment" in November of each year, barring major life changes like marriage or a having a child or such. Somehow, I got the impression that this meant that if I liked my settings, I shouldn't do anything in November.
... yeah, guess what, I was wrong. Now I'm sure I was told this, in amongst the fifty million other things I was told when hired. But it obviously didn't stick. Some things, like the FLEX plan, have to be re-signed-up for every year, or else it defaults to 0. So now that I've started up Remicaid, which by the way is pretty expensive, I suddenly find out that I've got ZILCH in Flex when I thought I could count on it.
Understand, My Remicaid treatments? Yeah, they run over 5000.00$ per session. Insurance will pay for 85-90%, but that still leaves me with a bill for over 800 every two months. The insurance will even cap out at 1500 out of my pocket over the course of the year, so I only have to pay for about the first two. But that's 1500.00 in the first four months of the year.... With flex I could have gotten them to pay for that and spread the cost to me over the entire year instead of right at the beginning. And I could have saved the taxes on that money, which could have payed for my food bill for at least a month.
Now... well crap.
