Alive At The End Of The World by Saeed Jones

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Grief pervades throughout the poems in this magnificent collection, but not without humor or beauty. The title of the collection and the series of poems written with that title draw from the remembrance of the Pulse nightclub shooting. As a gay black man, Jones writes hauntingly about living in America amidst white supremacy and homophobia as well as living through a global pandemic, and finding our place and lives, referencing many pop culture figures in the process. Highly recommended.
