Lightlark by Alex Aster

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

A YA fantasy novel that seems to want to include every successful trope from successful YA novels of the last 20 years. There are times this amalgamation works, and times when it doesn't. Every 100 years, the island of Lightlark appears to host the Centennial, a deadly game that only the rulers of six realms are invited to play. One of these rules is Isla, a Wildling, cursed to destroy anyone they fall in love with. I could not help myself as it read quickly, despite its sometimes clunky plot.

[I received an advanced readers copy from the publisher.]
