Slow Horses by Mick Herron

The first book of a spy series that introduces the characters of Slough House, a group of MI5 spies who have screwed up and wound up doing the tedious duties of going through trash and cell phone transcriptions looking for any potential useful information (which there rarely is). They soon find themselves embroiled in a terrorist kidnapping. The characters are fantastic and the writing adds to the suspenseful plot with several strong twists.
