I worked late yesterday and I'll be here late-ish today, so I decided to take a lunch hour today. For a whole hour. Where I leave the building and everything.
I went to Super G Mart to buy some seaweed snacks, a can of mock duck, and generally visit the food. In addition to mock duck, I found mock pork, steak & mushrooms (mock steak, real mushrooms), and one can simply labelled "fried gluten" (while seitan was invented centuries ago in Asia, that name seems to be an invention of western vegans). I stuck to the "duck".
They now have an aisle of "European food." (Their quotation marks). Given the ethnic mix in the area, it's primarily foods from Russia/Eastern Europe. I talked myself out of the soy pate just because I already had one can of experimental food. :-)
I'm not looking forward to spending 14 of the next 48 hours in a car, but I am looking forward to spending time with my great aunt. The weather looks like it's about to turn really cold. Ugh.
I hope you have a nice weekend!
