Sautrday I received good/bad news: Ben and Natalya aren't coming next weekend. Bad because I'd like for them to visit, good because it gives me time to get my guest room together. We were storing some bedroom furniture in there (which we sold this weekend, yay!), and there are still pics & stuff that need to be hung, doo dads that need to be used or packaged up or donated from the painting project. In other words, no way it's ready for guests!
I got a lot done around the house this weekend - it is looking much more organized, which makes me happy. Saunooke and I also went to Lowe's and spent a bazillion dollars - new curtains for the living room, stuff to finish the hall bath remodel, and a new water heater. Ours has been on borrowed time and we decided to replace it at our convenience rather than wait for it to die on a Tuesday morning in January or something horrid like that. I'm pretty sure it's original to the house - I had a heating element replaced when I moved in in 1999. I'm sure the new one will be much more energy efficient.
I also worked on my doll house. I've had it I guess a year and a half. Beyond collecting a few ends & odds and perusing doll house web sites, I haven't done anything. This weekend I removed wall paper. I have a basic idea of what I want to do. The house is a 2 story colonial type style with attached 2 car garage and a green house on the other side. Other than the green house, it looks like a lot of the houses in our neighborhood.
There are some awesome web sites out there for modern doll houses - that is the new really popular thing apparently. I don't want mine to be totally "contemporary" - I'm thinking an early fifties vibe - where the kitchen & bath look a little "dated" (late 40s) but the bedroom and living area are have more of the "modern" 1950s atomic googie type thing going on.
If I had a few hundred extra dollars to spend on myself for Xmas, I'd be seriously tempted to get this:
OTOH, I don't think it would be much of a challenge to decorate something that perfectly modern!
I will admit, that's my kinda dollhouse! Or real house. :-)
Have a good day!
