Horoscope - OH BROTHER . . . .

Really??? Is the person writing the horoscopes on vacation, so they just did a re-run of *Every* *Single* *Day* of my life???????

Sunday, Jan 10th, 2010 -- It's difficult for you to stay on track today because you keep imagining all the exciting possibilities ahead. Unfortunately, you can scare yourself by the enormity of your vision, prompting you to take no action at all for fear of failure. The big picture can be daunting if you don't know how to break it down into manageable pieces. But everything will be easier if you just remember to keep scaling back your plans.

This is pretty much me in a nutshell. I have debilitating executional dyslexia (DED - just made that up). I have vision, great ideas (really), and the brain cells to make a good, organized plan. But getting over the part where whatever the project is seems too big to actually pull off?? Not so much. I manage to pass as someone who is functional, but I really think I must need some kind of chemical intervention or something.

I could link to my beginning of the year posts for the past few years and they are pretty much exactly what I would write here again verbatim. I need to get organized, do all the projects on the list, yadda yadda yadda. But this year feels different - clearer somehow. In my new job, instead of saying "I'm gonna," I'm actually doing. That's different. In my defense, I now have the time to execute a plan - not a luxury I had before as a full time fire putter outer. Won't go into details because it's too early to put anyone to sleep for the day, but among other fun projects I've got moving at work (after my first full week in the job) one of my ideas for helping put together a better weekly report for the Board of Directors and owner of the company is moving forward with two team meetings this week. I'm going to end up managing/coordinating the plan to get the admin team working together, sharing information, and improving their training and skills. And I feel some major projects at the house coming on. Well, they've been here all the time - I just haven't been doing them :-/

I want to get the gym set up, finish putting the den together (including getting the gas logs installed), and get the storage room done organized. Sounds simple enough, right? Stay tuned . . . .

Other things on the list for the year, theoretically:

Brunch at Brion's (scheduled for January - depending on turn out might be a regular event)

Movies (will try to do one a month as long as the weather is cold)

Camping (the regular two big trips, one smaller with kids, one women only, the Music Festival, and the cabins trip in February)

Game nights with the women (can't really do them here right now with the cats having lost their minds - but can coordinate and organize - might see if we can do something over at Brion's or Kilroys or something)

Co-Chairing the Pride float committee with Todd

Peking Duck and Maggiano's group dinners

Kayaking (will probably take a group out of Jack's this year) - would love to do Jack's at 4th of July with a group, but 4th of July is on a Monday and Maura will have the long weekend because of her new job, so we'll probably be camping with her family.

SAILING Lessons!!!!!! - Many people at Maura's birthday party chipped in for her sailing lessons for this spring. It was amazing and her whole certification and membership is covered by her friends. It was so much more generous that I ever dreamed and I'm grateful to all of them. We love being on the water and learning to sail is something we've always talked about.

Cello - I want to be able to play for real before the end of the year.
