Wah, I wrote a merboy!Roxas x Axel fic in response to
this post at
khyaoi. I have trouble keeping Axel in character. And Roxas, for that matter. But anyway, no spoilers whatsoever, since it's an AU. So please read, even if you have no idea who these people are, because writing for new series makes me paranoid (though this is my second KH fic, the first one was utter crap, though it's one of my more popular ones on ff.net >>;;) I know it is crap, but... I WILL REWRITE IT BETTER I SWEAR.
Title: Catch of the Day
Rating: PG
Pairing: Axel x Roxas
Warnings: OOCness, AU, no spoilers since... well, it's an AU o____O
Notes: I might rewrite this one day. But yeaaaaahh.
“Ouch! Hey, watch it, that hurts!”
Axel yelped as something heavy tugged on his line, hurriedly attempting to bring it up and free whoever had the misfortune to come in contact with it. Not that it was his fault. Didn’t these people know this was a no swimming zone, as so proudly pointed out by the sign that said ‘No Swimming’? Really, he wasn’t at fault at all.
And he planned on letting the mysterious swimmer know it. “Can’t you read the sign, you’re not suppose to swim… here?”
Oblivious to his staring, the blond kid whose necklace had got caught in his hook scowled up at him, struggling to get free. “I can swim where ever I want! Can you get me out of here?”
Axel just stared. And stared some more.
There must have been something in that fish Demyx had made. It was making him see things. Because after all, cute blond boys just didn’t have tails.
Said Cute Blond Boy seemed to tune in to his thoughts, pausing in his struggles to look towards the red headed humans train of sight. Yelping, he attempted to dive back under, in an effort to pretend this had never happened, but only succeeded in joking himself as the caught necklace tugged against the back of his throat.
Startled out of his Blond Merboy Daze, Axel slipped into the water to help him without killing himself, trying to grab a hold of the struggling boy. “Whoa, hold on, that’s going to make it worse! Hold… still… I’m not going to hurt you!”
Ceasing his frustrated wiggling for a moment, the merboy stared at him suspiciously as he cut the line from the necklace, carefully untangling the rest of it from the string of shells. “See, all better. Except for my line… now what am I gonna do…”
He should have dashed away at that moment, leaving the human to babble on to his friends about mer people and making them doubt his sanity.
Later, he would smack himself for not doing so right away (Or perhaps thank, though he would never admit that).
Looking at him once again, Axel tilted his head. “You know…”
“Yeah, you didn’t think mermen existed. Well, they do!”
“… you’re cute.”
“Uh… what?”
He gave a rather mischievious grin. “What’s your name, kid?”
"... Roxas."
His grin widened as he pushed himself back onto the dock, pulling the merboy (Roxas, it was) closer to him. "Nice to meet you... Roxas. I'm Axel."

endnotes. HOLY CRUD I SCREWED UP THE ENDING. I shoulda just left it at 'you're cute.' Or just wrote it differently. I fail. Must try again, and harder. T___T
Ignore the fact that in the picture Roxas isn't wearing a necklace XD I was having problems figuring out how to get him 'hooked' without hurting him. Yeah, any suggestions on that?
Eewww, I have to go get my permit today T___T I will fail and cry and then fail drivers ed. (Don't mind me, I have to go through this whole panic mode or else I think I actually WILL fail.)
I started a new file on KHII so I could see Roxas and Axel again XD I'm such a loser.
... Paige and Julie still need to contact me DORKS. Gewah.
Still very much so out of it. Ignore me and my random boredom.
... woa, how many Land Before Times ARE there o____O I might have seen like... the first two. And the... ninth one is playing on CN? (Fails at Roman numerals)
EDIT: HAH, I WIN! Got my permit today. Only took about two hours o____O The first lady was really mean to me, and the second got my address wrong the first time so I had to wait another twenty minutes for a new one. Had to take two pictures, too (both of which were horrible.)
