It's never a good sign when the school calls you in the middle of the day

I got home from the gym yesterday and checked the phone. I saw that Aislin's school had called, but there was no message. Hm. Probably not that important, especially since they didn't call my cell phone. Still, I called over there just in case. The secretary wasn't sure but said she'd have the teacher call me if it was urgent.

When I went to pick Aislin up from school, I heard what happened. Aislin had an accident during lunch, when her teacher wasn't around. She made it to the girls' bathroom but not quite to the point of getting her pants down. She was alone in there so she left her pants and underpants on the floor of the bathroom and walked down the hall PANTS FREE REMEMBER to the office. The Principal was in there alone and kind of freaked out. Dealing with half-naked kindergartners isn't in the Principal's instruction manual, I guess. He called for the Vice Principal, who is a woman, but she didn't know where Aislin's dry clothes were so they called me. I guess the teacher came to find Aislin at that point and brought Aislin's dry clothes.

Are you sick of me whining about Aislin wetting her pants yet? I go back and forth between "it's not big deal, she's only five, she just get so focused on other things" and "WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS??" I think because of my line of work, my mind immediately jumps to the assumption that someone at school is molesting her. (Awful to think of, I know) but I've asked around about this, and got nowhere. And it happens at home, too, sometimes.

Her teacher seems very nonplussed by the whole thing, but suggested that I get her a watch with a timer that will go off ever three hours or so to remind her to go to the bathroom.

Aislin seems keen on the plan, so I guess that's what I will do.
