Maintaining licensure is a racket

In order to maintain my LPC license, I have to complete 30 hours of continuing education by next March. I have been looking around at classes and conferences and whatnot and they are all so expensive! I get some credit for the teaching I did at the graduate school (not my undergrad teaching though) but I am not sure how the credit works out.

I want to go to this Play Therapy conference in Louisville but:

1) It is expensive. It would be basically the cost of the workshops I need plus a hotel for 3 - 4 nights.
2) Plus the cost of travel
3) But I would have all my hours DONE in one fell swoop
4) Plus I would learn a great deal about play therapy which I want to do more of and don't know a whole lot about
5) What to do about the nursling? I would either have to bring Eilie which means also bringing someone to babysit Eilie or bringing a breast pump so that I am not miserably engorged the whole time.
6) It would be so much easier to just do the conference but ouch the expense. And it's not like I have all that many clients to justify the cost (yet.)

OOH! I just found a 4-day Play Therapy training in Evanston (i.e. 15 minutes from my house!!) which costs slightly less than HALF the Louisville thing AND counts for 26 CE credits. I believe this calls for a W00T!
