The Musings
Does the fact that dwarf men and dwarf women so resemble one another make dating among the dwarves of Middle Earth a little nerve-wracking? What does that do for gender roles? Attitudes toward sexual preference?
I'm mad at Elrond. I can understand him wanting his only daughter (but not his only child--doesn't he have two sons in the books?) to journey with him to the Lands Beyond or wherever, but does he have to paint such a bleak picture for her--a picture which is, probably false? He assumes that Aragorn will be the center of her universe, and that may be the case, but he won't be the only thing in her universe. As Queen of Gondor she'll have her subjects. Moreover, how does Elrond know Arwen won't have any children? As a queen, won't one of her most important duties be to give Aragorn an heir? What about that? Does he think she won't have friends? *thwaps Elrond* If she's immortal and eternally young and beautiful she should have ample time to mourn Aragorn, and move on. I guess that's not very romantic, but it's realistic.
The plea
I've been plugging away at this HP fic, it's gone on for about four pages, and now I don't know how to end it. I'm worried that it's drifting into cliched seas, too. Would anyone care to take a glance at it and make suggestions? Preferably someone who's read my Midnight Conversations, since this story takes place a few months before MC#1. The ships are Sirius/OC & Sirius/Remus, it's rated R for sexual content (not too raunchy, but I still won't send it to anyone I know to be under 18), and it's from Sirius' POV. There are parts I like, but I'm not sure how well it works as a whole. And like I said, there's no ending, yet. *sigh* So, help, please.
