Just got back from watching Joe Dowling interview Sir Ian McKellen.

God, he's cool.

Now I'm sort of glad that I got to see Global Voices instead of King Lear or The Seagull. He was pretty candid, answering Dowling's questions and questions from audience members. (And he totally fanboyed Judi Dench, which was adorable.) Then he recited a monologue from Thomas More, a play written by a number of people (including Shakespeare) but not produced until recently. (And starring Sir Ian as Sir Thomas, natch.) He quipped that not many actors today can claim to have originated a Shakespeare role.
