My company's website isn't working, and I don't know what to do. I called the emergency hotline, and they don't open until 12 on Sunday.

Wow, you have tech support on weekends? At my uni there's no one in ITS on weekends or holidays and nobody thinks that's a problem.

I guess I'm a little spoiled. *g* And less grumbly now that the system is up and running again. That was a pain. Although since every office had the same problem, things didn't get too overwhelming since none of us could do our work.

In college, I had a friend who was majoring in computer science, so I was usually in luck, unless it was a really enormous problem. Which is sometimes was...

See, my uni recently installed the network security system from hell, and when it goes bugshit the whole school goes offline. But since nobody else in open on weekends except DPS and food services, they apparently don't see the value in having at least a crisis line just-in-case or something.

I still remember having to carry my gigantic desktop to and from the ITS every time something happened that couldn't be fixed over the phone. That's one of the reasons my next computer was a laptop.

You know, I read Prydain probably ten years ago, and I STILL have deep-seated anger that it ended the way it did. ^_^*

*g* I like the ending. It makes me sad and it makes some amount of sense. It's kind of like the elves leaving Middle Earth at the end of the Ring trilogy; it's a new age, and the normal people need to look after themselves.
