This was meant to be a fluffy story about a boy and his droid, but it ended up as a somewhat angsty follow-up to If I Should Fall Along the Way. (Which you don't need to have read, but you should!) I feel like I did a little bit of contorting, avoiding assigning BB-8 a pronoun. I didn't know what to use. I'm fairly sure Rey says "he" at some point, and most people involved with the film seem to be saying "he," but Oscar Isaac has said "it" in interviews and it's his character's droid, so I don't know. At some point I should probably figure it out, but I think it works in this tiny story.
