Waiting for the National Park Service to update its website, so I find out when the John Adams National Historical Park is re-opening. I want to go this Monday, since I have off and the weather is supposed to be nice.
(And yes, I am very, very relieved that Congress was able to avert a global economic crisis, despite the Tea Party's best efforts. But I think that if I start talking about politics here, I'll never stop. I think it's awful that people are yelling at the National Park Service - I was just at their Facebook page, and people were actually comparing them to Nazis. Which I guess is typical discourse these days, but WTF. Were the park employees supposed to work for free during the shutdown? Anyway, I'm looking forward to visiting the parks and showing my support for the people who take care of them. And the people using war veterans to score political points are just the scum of the Earth.)
My city is holding its Pumpkin Festival on Saturday. We're going for a world record number of jack-o-lanterns, and I've been warned that downtown is going to be an absolute zoo. I hate crowds, but I want to see it.
Ooh, they just updated the website! The park is open again. ♥ Adams ♥ I may stop in Concord for Orchard House (Louisa May Alcott's home) and the Minuteman National Park too.
