Nearly up-to-date on my television viewing. I'm still a number of episodes behind on "The Borgias," but I have to be in the right mood for that one. I've broken up with "Game of Thrones" and "Castle." I should break up with "TrueBlood," but ... *shakes fist*
Avatar: The Legend of Korra
LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIN.
Lin Bei Fong is the best. She's better than you. She's better than me. She's better than everyone. I'm not surprised, what with Toph being her mother. Liiiiiiin.
I don't think her bending is gone for good, though. I don't think anyone's is. I was reading someone's take on Amon's abilities, and they hypothesized that the block is more mental than physical. I can buy that, since Amon and Aang place their hands differently, and what Aang did to Yakone and Ozai took longer and seemed flashier than what Amon did to Lin and the others.
Still, I cried. Oh, LIN.
General Iroh!!!!
Okay, I keep hearing about Zuko's daughter on Tumblr, but I don't recall anyone mentioning her in the show. So how do we even know about her? And what do we know about her? (I assume Iroh is Zuko's grandson, since he doesn't seem that old. Though I guess Zuko could have had him late in life.)
I have no opinion on the various ships. At this point, I have no stake in who ends up with whom.
TrueBlood
How could you do that to Tara, Sookie and Lafayette? Seriously, how could you? I get that you didn't want to lose her, but you didn't have to turn her into something she hated - and make her subservient to a white woman. Nice going, Sook. If I were Tara, I wouldn't forgive you either.
I have a big incest squick, so - Eric and Nora? Eurgh, not helping.
I'm glad we're finally getting some backstory for Pam. It's only taken them four seasons. She's still one of my favorites.
My other favorite is Jessica, but she hasn't really done much this season ... yet. I would not mind seeing Pam and Jessica become co-queens of the vampires.
Not really caring about anyone else's storylines.
Suits
"Suits" entertains me, for the most part. I like Harvey, Jessica, Rachel, and Donna a lot. (What is it with television Donnas? All the ones I can think of off the top of my head - Donna Moss, Donna Meegle, Donna Noble, Donna from Queer as Folk UK, this Donna - are awesome. Something about the name?)
I just can't work up any empathy for Mike Ross. Sorry, dude. You're a white, able-bodied, physically attractive, (presumably) cis male, (presumably) heterosexual genius. You are, as John Scalzi puts it, playing the game of life on
the lowest difficulty setting there is. So, you fucked up along the way. Boo-hoo. You're still everything you ever were, and can somehow afford a one-bedroom apartment in Manhattan and your grandma's nursing home bills. You're essentially a good guy, and I wish you well, but I just can't work up any empathy for you. Because there are lots of people who don't have your advantages, who didn't screw up. And they want a good job at a fancy law firm just as much as you do.
So, yeah. That said, I do like Harvey Specter a lot. And Jessica and Donna and Rachel. When it's about them, I'm interested. When it's about Mike and how his life is so hard, I tend to zone out. Sorry, Mike. You're perfectly lovely. I just don't *YAWN*.
