I had a very nice time in DC yesterday. "1776" was very good, so if you're in the area and can get tickets before it closes, I suggest you do so. I liked the venu too. Ford's is a small theater, so even though my ticket was comparatively cheap ($27 is cheap) I had a great seat. Plus they didn't need to completely distort the actors' voices with microphones and amps. I mean, they had microphones (at one point, Jefferson planted a smacking kiss on Martha's forehead, and because his lips landed right near her microphone, it was LOUD) but it wasn't ridiculous.
So, that was good. And the weather was perfect. I spent a couple of hours at the National Portrait Gallery. Then after the show I walked down to the American Museum of Natural History, which I last saw fifteen years ago. They've redone it since then, or parts of it. It looks great, especially the Hall of Evolution (or whatever they called it). It was so crowded, though. To the point where I thought I was going to have a panic attack. And I'm usually not too bad with crowds. *shudder*
I also was stupid and didn't bring water with me. I had one bottle of water at lunch, and that was it for the entire day, until I got back to Maryland, by which point I was pretty tired and dehydrated. And I'm still feeling the affects today. :/ Damn, I tired. I need to work on a project, but I keep staring off into space.
But, anyway, I like DC a lot. And now that I know how easy it is to get down there, I plan on going more frequently. I mean, it's about a forty minute drive to the Metro, but once you're there, it's so simple! And now two hours late like the goddamn Megabus.
Damn, I love "1776." I have seen it four times now (not counting the film, which I own). That makes it my most-seen show. Soundtrack-wise, it would not be in my top ten, or maybe even my top twenty, but gah, the history geek in me loves it to pieces. Pins!
