John to Abigail:
My Dearest Friend, this is the coldest day we have felt this winter, and if it were not for the hope I have of a letter from you tomorrow, I should freeze for what I know, tonight.
*MELTS*
I love that they sign all their love letters with their surnames, e.g. I am yours, yours, yours. XOXO, John Adams
I'm sure it was the convention, but do want one of them to write, I know who you are, dumbass!

My DVD is not here yet. *drums fingers on desk* Come on, Amazon. Actually, whatever. It's not like I have a whole lot of time to watch movies this week. I don't have any more papers due until the 30th, but I still have a ton of work. And Interlibrary Loan finally sent me the DVD of the Anthony Andrews "Ivanhoe"! I've been wanting to see that, and I've been unable to find it through Netflix or Blockbuster or the UW library system or the Milwaukee County Public Library system. So, yay! I hope it's worth the wait. I'm excited about Olivia Hussey as Rebecca and Sam Neill as Brian de Bois-Gilbert.

I posted a fic yesterday:
Hold On (ST: Reboot | McCoy/Kirk | adult | 1,985 words)
It's based very loosely on the Ballad of Tam Lin, and looking back, I kind of wish I'd thrown in some more supernatural imagery, but ... the story is pretty focussed on action, and I wasn't sure when poor Bones would have the time to notice the spooky ambiance. The idea for all the water imagery came from the ballad, since (in some versions, anyway) Janet saves Tam Lin by dunking him in a well after the Fairy Queen turns him into a live coal, and she's able to hide him in the resultant steam. (How much did Janet kick ass? And she did all that wrestling and dunking while she was visibly pregnant.)

I have no fics on the front burner right now and it's weird. I mean there's
yuletide, which I haven't started yet. I need to revisit the source material, but I have a plot bunny and I don't think it'll be too difficult once I get started.
I should pick up one of the stories I've relegated to the back burner, maybe that Mirrim-centric Pern story.

One thing I love about having a job on campus is getting to see my classmates more often. Somehow, that hadn't occurred to me when I interviewed for the position. But it's lovely. I felt so isolated last year, since I live a couple of miles from campus and only had classes three nights a week. This semester I'm on campus every day except Thursday and Saturday (and certain Sundays) and it's great when people know where you are and stop by to say hello or ask where they can find a book.
