it's an old light and there's not much of it, but it's enough to see by

Astronomers are looking at gamma rays from a star that exploded 13 billion years ago.

I ♥ science SO MUCH sometimes. Because it is AWESOME.

It's my day off and I intend to take it easy ... since I'm going to spend Friday through Sunday (and probably a good chunk of Monday and Tuesday) working on papers and Power Point presentations. Argh! I mean, I have homework to do today, but I intend to do some FUN reading and writing, and some tv watching, and some shopping since my favorite black cotton top is getting frayed at the sleeves. :( It's been loved to death. It was so comfy and it went with absolutely everything.

And current works in progress:

Bloom and Grow: Follow-up-ish thing to The Next Time You Say Forever, in which Joanna McCoy tries to figure out herself, her strange new family, and her place in the universe.

With such a sky to lead him on: Kirk and McCoy have their honeymoon in the Lake District. Replete with Wordsworth, sheep, and dick jokes.

The Hollow World: Spock Prime tries to recreate history, and things do not go at all According To Plan.

Armed with every precious failure: I don't know what this one is about yet. I just like the title. Hmmm, could be Mirrim and T'gellan finally getting themselves sorted out. It would be about time. *g*

Vulcan mocha

Either make 2 shots of Espresso with 1 tsp cinnamon added, or make the following drip coffee:

5 scoops of Peet's Major Dickason's Blend or a Fair Trade French Roast coffee [ground for drip, but close to espresso grind], 1 tsp cinnamon sprinkled over the top before you add water

1 1/2 cups water [boiled]

In a cup combine 2 TBSP boiling water, 1 TBSP Ghirardelli unsweetened chocolate, and 2 TBSP sugar or brown sugar; stir in

2 drops of Almond Extract
2 drops of Vanilla Extract
1/4-1/3 c. milk [to taste], heated
a sprinkle of Chili Powder [regular; less than 1/8 tsp]

Pour the coffee over this mixture, or the espresso, and sprinkle a bit of nutmeg on top. Just a bit.

Per spocklikescats. I may have to try this.
