Here's an interesting op-ed from today's Times. It's about gender and marriage laws in the US and how completely fucked up it all is. It's ridiculous how much simpler everything would be if people were allowed to marry the legal-adult-human-not-close-relatives of their choice. Wtf, country?

I posted two ficlets in the last twenty-four hours:
Everything Is Not Enough, in which Gaeta accidentally-on-purpose gets canoodly with Hoshi, and wonders if it's all right to give up the dream of Earth.
Sometimes You Dig Your Own, in which Mirrim succeeds in alienating just about everyone on Pern, and Path leads her back to herself.
It occurs to me that Mirrim's dragon might have a symbolic name.
Also, the titles were taken from the song "To Live Is To Fly" by Townes Van Zandt. The Cowboy Junkies did a nice cover on "Black-Eyed Man" (I think). Anyway, I've had it in my head since yesterday morning.
Two ficlets left to write, and one paper. Fortunately, I was reading over the requirements for the paper yesterday, and I feel heartened. My professor used the magic words: "The paper should be as long as it takes you to cover the subject adequately." Yes! It's not that I'm lazy. It's just that I'm a grad student and I feel like I know how to write a research paper by now. I don't like being told that I must have X sources, because then I spend too much time trying to find X sources, which is time I could have spent writing the damn paper.
