spoilers, obvs.
The more I think about Spock/Uhura, the more I likey. I was never into any particular TOS pairing, canon or otherwise. (TNG and DS9 are different stories, of course. Picard/Crusher! Worf/Dax! Others!) I became attached to the characters at such a young age, that I guess I considered them...not sexless, certainly, but... Well, I never inferred anything. It just never occurred to me. So, coming from that, Spock/Uhura not only makes sense, it's nice. He's awesome, she's awesome. She's drawn to cool, smart guys, and she reached out to him when he needed it (i.e. when Amanda died). He's drawn to cool, smart women.
Besides, it means more Uhura-centric stories, and there is very little bad there.

Though now I find myself kindasorta wanting Kirk/McCoy fic.
Drunken!Kirk: She's with HIM. She wouldn't even tell me her name, and she's with that...sexless...pointy-eared...VULCAN!
Drunken!Bones: Dammit, Jim, I'm a drunk, not a - I mean I'm a DOCTOR - not a...a...counselor...person...thing...
And then they kiss. Or something.
On an entirely separate note, when Nero screamed SPOOOOOOOOOCK, did anyone else think he was yelling FUUUUUUUUUUCK? I know that's what the boys behind me thought. ^_^
To sum up: Needs more Bones!
