Last night we went to see The Raveonettes at the Doug Fir.
Not so great bus karma...but it was a fabulous show. Didn't
get there in time to catch Midnight Movies but still there
earlier enough to get a pretty good place on the steps
to view the stage.

The evening was a total mental trip. Now I know this town is
hipster central...and I know everyone has been rocking the
late 70s/early 80s look for a number of years now(in their
many manifestations) but last night really took the cake.
The entire crowd looked like the photos in my parents old
albums...the white boy afros, porn staches and vintage clothes...
there was so much irony in the air it was almost stifling...
I felt like I should be asking these kids for my allowance, it
was as if the space/time continuum has wrinkled and I was
propelled into my childhood by force. Im not insinuating that
this is a bad thing...it is just a difficult thing to wrap one's
mind around. I had to stop myself, at one point, because I
imagine when I was their age, running around with white and
purple hair dressed in old military uniforms, that I was
getting some of the same sort of looks from older folks...
but we weren't copying another time period per se, but
utilizing the look to create our own. This doesn't necessarily
mean that the younger kids today aren't original...but it
does have me wonder if this is all we have...are we relegated
to mimicking the past from now forward...or will there be
some cataclysmic revelation that will be new and different...
and will I have the cajones to partake....or only observe?

Color me a curmudgeon. :/

The Ravz were wonderful btw.....if they make it to your town...
go!

I was in the garden putting up a makeshift fence around the
garden stuffs...and realized that even though I loathe the fact
that the neighbors(whom I love, glorious retired couple who
are home all the time and keep an eye on my place) have
moved their tv back to their sort-of dining-room (which is right
across from my bedroom/was-once-a-dining-room)...my music
battles their "prime time"....so I think we're even...for now...
