Oooh, I haven't seen the "making of." I'll have to find that. I don't think the smut detracts from the story. It's weird because the books are all first person perspective, but HBO is trying to focus on the whole ensemble. It feels funny to me, I'm too used to the story from Sookie's POV. And she... doesn't usually watch random people humping, so maybe that's why it seems off to me.

I think my biggest complaint has to be Tara. She gets entirely too much attention in the pilot and I'm like wtf? They're not introducing Eric until epi 4, I think. But stupid Tara is all over the pilot for some reason I can't fathom.

I hate, hate, HATE the amnesia nonsense. As for the positive, Eric's nothing if not persistent. They evolve in a unique way. But it's not smooth or spelled out; and the tiger is definitely an issue. As far as Bill's role... Something goes down (I think in book 6) and he has not come off of my shit list yet. Along with anyone who turns into an animal. Not my scene, even though a few of them are interesting characters. All I can think is, "Ack, dog breath." Does that make me racist? Species-ist?

Which reminds me of your Twilight stuff. My sister actually prefers the dog and refused to buy the last book unless Edward died in it. I'm not sure where I went wrong with her.
