I'm redoing everything in my apartment. :D
It's been nearly ten years, and I've changed a lot in ten years, especially my tastes. I don't care for the country bedroom furniture I bought at one of Frankston's many antique stores anymore, and the $15 bookshelves are starting to look at little bad. I no longer care for the light colored veneers. I really *hate* the floral granny couch. So I saved up all year, and now it's time for a change.
Biggest change:
I just bought this sofa. It has a very deep seat and is muy comfortable. And it's red. Well, brick red but that shade will go better with the beige-ish color scheme of most apartments than the bright clown red of the other couch I was considering. I am so excited to have a new couch--and a sleeper at that! I'm going to buy a memory foam topper for it. ^_^
Target has 3-shelf bookcases in the espresso finish I've come to love for $20. Yeah, more pressboard laminate, but they should last until my tastes change in another 10 years. I need a big 5-shelf too, but they're slightly pricier and may have to wait until next year. Until then, some of my less loved books may have to stay in boxes.
Getting rid of my three drawer dresser and bed (from the aforementioned antique store). I'm going to Craigslist those two. I'm hoping I can get a couple hundred for them. They are both nice, old, and solid wood. I don't like headboards anymore, and this bed is just too damn high. :| I want to get
this bed instead. Nevermind. I just can't get past the bit where the middle parts are higher than the slats. Sounds like my box springs would be balanced on the midbits. I'll probably go with
this instead. Still high, but looks like it supports better. And you can WD-40 speaky metal. As for the dresser issue, I'll either get a little Rubbermaid drawer set to stick in the closet or I'll get little baskets to keep things in and store them on the built-in closet shelves.
Still debating the dining table issue. I'm tempted to just get a TV tray. Or a very small folding table. Still deciding. Turns out stools with backs on them are more expensive than I thought.
Now all that's left to do is get some big, sturdy trash sacks and start throwing things away.
EDIT:
tsuki_no_bara tells me the link defaults to the main page for her. If so, this is the sofa:
