Interesting... I'd heard about the husband, but didn't know she was complicit. Side fact, she's from my hometown.

I did quite a bit of googling over this, so now I know more than I'd really like to. I hadn't known she's from your hometown though, heh. :)

Yeah, I was startled to find out she'd been a molester as well. But I'd already known she aided and abetted her husband in his activities, so I haven't really been able to consider her fiction for awhile now.

She got a lot of women into writing fiction, and helped nurture some careers. But I just can't.

Her writing is so sex-positive and seemed progressive for the times, it doesn't surprise me at all that she got women into writing, but everything's now colored by that lens. I have to pass on reading anything else by her.

Unusual for a woman to abuse children.

That irritates me about Kindle - I scroll back to the cover and start from there.

Yeah, I try to always scroll back. Never know what else you'll miss besides the cover image!

WHAT?! oh man. Fuck that. I was such a fan of Mists of Avalon too. >:(

Yeah. The person who continued the series for her is donating all the money to an anti-abuse group, so at least that's something.

Holy cow! I didn't know that about Marion Zimmer Bradley. I've never read her work, but have heard of her. What an awful background for a book!

Yeah. I wasn't 100% sure it was her when I discovered who wrote it (I knew her name, and I knew a female scifi author had helped her husband abuse kids, but I had hoped it wasn't her). Such an awful thing.
