I'd recommend it! If the Kid would read a really long book, I think it's one that would work for him. There's been no sex at all in the first 70% (there is a courtesan mentioned, but what's sexy in their world is showing a very-non-sexual-to-us body part, not breasts or anything we'd think of sexual), the cursing is a word unique to their world ("crem" which means clay/mud), and while there are wars and battles, it's not bloody, gory, or graphic. There is slavery and some other sort of adult themes (how one race might abuse another, abuse of power between high class and low class groups), but all in all, I'd say it's good for a teenage reader so long as they'd be interested in a long, complex book. Lots of action/sword fighting/hunting!

Have snagged the sample for my Kindle. I do love me a good long book (I'm a fast reader) with an interesting world. <3
