I've loved all of her books. That one was particularly haunting.

I can't think of anthropomorphized camels as anything but Terry Pratchett's. Camels are all named "You Bastard," "Bloody Stupid," "Evil-Minded son of a Bitch", "Evil-Smelling Bugger". Camels are all highly effective mathematicians.

Ha! That sort of fits this, too. None of the people liked the camels at all, but in (the book's) truth the camels were easily as smart as humans.

Man, looking back on it now, this book annoys me. I can't believe I finished it!
