(Bobby is
maninflannel and mine to use as I see fit.)
He had been following empty trails of the Winchesters for awhile. It was hard because they obviously didn't always use their real names, and he always came to a roadblock. That is, until he came to a name. Bobby Singer. Someone he spoke to suggested he call the man. The number he was given didn't work, and it took a bit more searching to find one that did. He left a message for the man, asking him to call, but he didn't hear anything.
For two weeks straight he left message after message, threatening to find his way to the man's doorstep. He was desperate to talk to him. Wally didn't mention who it was he was looking for just yet. He wanted to talk to the man first.
Finally Bobby called him back. Wally was in the middle of his work day when the call came. "Browning," he said, answering the line.
"This is Bobby Singer. You been tryin' to reach me?"
"Yes sir. Hi. My name is Wally Browning."
"And?"
"And...I think you know my sister, Grace."
Bobby sighed. "Why's it matter to ya now?"
Wally's fingers moved through his hair. "Because I've been looking for her for a long time."
"Ain't that hard to find someone."
"Look, I understand your hesitation. If you care about her...I understand that. But she's my sister."
"No she ain't. She's a Winchester."
"Family isn't about blood...sir."
The line was silent for awhile before Bobby spoke again. "An' if she don't wanna talk to ya?"
"Then that's her decision. I..." He wanted to bring up her other brothers, but he still wasn't sure he could trust this man. If he let on that he knew the boys were wanted... "Please. Give her my number. If she wants to call me, she can. If she doesn't....I'll let it go."
"Yeah...yeah, I'll talk t'her."
"Thank you." Wally licked his lips and sighed. "Is she okay? I mean..is she safe? Happy?"
"Yeah she's happy. She's...Gracie."
That made Wally smile, and he stated to tear up. The fact that this man he didn't even know could say a sentence that Wally understood so completely hit him hard. A big part of him was even jealous. "Good. If she doesn't want me can you just...make sure she stays safe? I just need to know she'll be okay."
"You don't hafta worry about that, son."
"Okay," Wally nodded, even though he wasn't sure he believed that. Not when when she was with murderers. But he also figured they wouldn't hurt her. "Thank you."
"Yer welcome."
Wally hung up slowly and clasped his shaking hands together. He wasn't sure how he would handle waiting for her to call or not call.
