I'd say you have enough sophistication to be enjoying that coffee and then be able to laugh about the ridiculousness and hilarity of the situation that you had no control over. Those who can't find humor in anything and can't laugh at themselves are uptight, not sophisticated. So don't feel too bad. If anything, your story makes me think of a scene from an enjoyable romantic comedy or something.
