Characters Dist, Rikku, cockbot Rating Um. PG? Summary Someone is sneaky, and someone else is not amused. Location Dist's garage Date/Time September 20th, midafternoon. Status Ongoing
Rikku didn't so much walk in as sneak. She was pretty certain that her presence wasn't welcome; this Dist guy had a reputation for being abrasive on the best of days and outwardly hostile the rest of the time. Getting caught would probably not end well, especially since the robot he was working on was armed to the teeth (and between the legs, what the hell?).
Still, the teen couldn't resist. Dist's reputation as a mechanical genius went hand-in-hand with his reputation for being a difficult human being. Being raised among the Al Bhed, an interest in mechanics was not optional--Rikku had been around machinery her whole life. The difference between Rikku and her peers, however, was that she was willing to go outside the tight-knitted group to ogle at someone's else's machinery.
Who knows? There was probably a lot the Al Bhed could learn from Dist if they actually bothered to pay attention. The close-mindedness of the group as a whole bothered Rikku to no end. Just because this... guy?... wasn't among their ranks was no reason to just write him off. He wasn't GeneCo, so there was nothing to worry about. Right?
And so there Rikku was, crouched in a corner as she watched Dist float around the giant mecha in his really awesome floating chair. A good hour passed before her legs started to cramp. She tried to ignore the pain, but it really, really hurt.
It was when she tried to change positions that she lost her balance and fell, taking half a table of tools with her. When Rikku's clumsiness took over, it took over with a vengeance.

So much for going unnoticed.
