And I ran...

A whole two miles.. outside... in a RACE.. with other people around!

This weekend I participated in the "Truffle Shuffle", a charity event run annually for Committed Partners for Youth. This group provides mentors for young people that need a little extra support in their lives. It was a two mile run (or walk), or a four mile run. Four miles is a bit beyond me, but I managed the two mile pretty well despite the onset of a head-cold. It's my first time running outside (as compared to on a treadmill at the gym) since I was training for karate in North Carolina.

I'm particularly proud that I was able to run this in less than 25minutes (22min+) AND I never stopped to walk. That's pretty good for a woman that never managed a full mile in under 12min until last year. I likely would have had a better time if they hadn't mixed the runners and walkers together at the starting line. It took a couple of minutes to dodge out of the slowly ambling pack of young mothers (pushing, or carrying children) and older people.
