I'm going to New York! Woo hoo! In four weeks!

So. I need advice. Have you been there? Where did you stay? (this is the big one...) Where did you eat?

Also, in a fit of irresponsible spending fueled by the raising of my credit card limit, I bought a digital camera. Stay tuned for an obscene amount of photos.

In New York, I suggest staying in Brooklyn, but not in Bed-Stuy like I did. That place was scary. Times Square is like a sketchy Disneyland -- I'd say see it and then go somewhere else, like Central Park, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which sits on the side of it. The Whitney Museum is also very cool. I didn't see the MOMA, but you should. I'm told that Prospect Park in Brooklyn is really nice, too. As for food, all I ate while I was there was pizza and bagels. You can do way better than that.

DEFINITELY visit MoMA; the whole place was restructured a couple of years ago, and I've been really curious about how it looks now. If possible, stay in Manhattan..I was lucky enough to stay about four blocks away from Washington Square, at the University. It's not too touristy and close enough to any information you need about getting around.
And yes, the Met. Go to the Met. Plan at least two days for it though. And the Guggenheim is just down the street. And the Frick...has a great collection of Dutch paintings. Not as boring as it sounds. I wanted to go there when I was there but alas, not enough time. And you must must must go to the Cloisters. It's an old monastery that's been turned into a museum for religious art/ artifacts. Even if you're not into religious art, the location is breathtaking. It's a division of the Met, and admission is like $5.
