I was busy doing Christmas things yesterday, so I completely forgot to log on (which kind of contradicts my answer to one of the meme questions
) Today however I'm back into my usual morning pattern of catching up with my flist and with the meme.
6 Do you take compliments or praise well?
If I feel they are deserved and are stated as straight appreciation or thanks for a job well done. "That was good", "That was well done", even "That's brilliant!" are absolutely fine. But over-enthusiastic and fussy compliments make me uncomfortable, because once I've done something it's done and over and why make a fuss?
Personal compliments such as "You look very smart" or "That top really suits you" are very much appreciated and I can say "Thank you" for them quite easily.
7 Who was your first teeny-bopper celebrity crush? Did you have posters on your wall? Did you ever see them in concert or meet them in person? (Pictures, please! Got to have that pin-up poster on the wall.)
You know what? I didn't have a teeny-bopper celebrity crush, let alone a poster of one on my bedroom wall.
The main poster on my wall was a map of Middle Earth. Not particularly because I was "into" Tolkien's world; to this day I've never actually read Lord of the Rings. I just loved maps. I had read The Hobbit, but the map was the whole of Middle Earth, including Mordor and stuff.
I remember at school my friends were divided between those who just loved Donny Osmond, and those who lusted after David Cassidy (plus one slightly more discerning friend who worshipped David Essex). I sat outside all that, having no interest in any of them. Even if I liked their music (and I can't remember that I did or didn't) I was certainly not interested in them as people.
8 What is your morning routine like?
Get up. Make coffee. Turn on the computer while drinking coffee (at least two, sometimes three) and after sufficient time has passed (or some pre-designated deadline is reached) start the day.
The rest of the month's questions can be found under the cut
on day 1's post.
