i just looked outside and the sky is brilliant. if i could paint, i would paint this.
fall is here, but the weather sure isn't. i stepped outside today wearing 3 layers and a scarf, expecting it to be chilly but it was really warm and breezy - very springlike.
i walked down to davis today, just to get myself out of the house on my day off and sat in someday cafe for a few hours. i started the crossword in the globe (didn't quite finish it) and tried out that sudoku thing that is all the rage these days. i felt stupid because i couldn't do it, so i picked up the book i'm currently reading. everyone around me was doing some form of schoolwork and it actually made me a bit nostalgic. not to say that i miss doing homework for class, but i do miss studying and doing schoolwork at espresso royale with aaron. that was totally our stomping ground on the weeknights and i haven't been in so long.
someday is nice and it has a nice atmosphere. cute boys are constantly coming and going. there was one goofy looking shaggy haired boy that caught my eye. he wouldn't win an award for best dressed, but he was cute in that nerdy bookworm kinda way.
some fat grubby guy asked if the seat next to me on the couch was taken and when i said it was not, he sat down next to me and proceeded to do absolutely nothing for 5 minutes. i could feel him staring out of the corner of my eye and did my best to ignore him. i was relieved to see him get up and go so i could put my feet back up on the couch, only to have him return 3 minutes later and ask to sit again. i dove back into my book and sat uncomfortably as he grumbled an "excuse me, what time is it?" i told him the time and he sat for another half a minute before finally feeling defeated enough to leave and not return.
so i guess i wouldn't exactly say i was romantically successful.
it's not the produce section (ha, michelle) but it's a pretty decent place to sit, relax, and people watch.
