I've loathed the expression "put my face on" for quite some time. What it says about identity and self-worth is quite disturbing to me - like you're not really you without makeup. Ick. The mental image doesn't help, either. It's particularly odd in the context of people who've never been seen by their partner/spouse without makeup - they wear it to sleep, get up first in the morning to re-do it, etc.
Not only would it be an astounding waste of time and a hassle, but wouldn't it be weird never seeing/being seen as you really are?
