I miss you, Livejournal!
I've decided to write in you today because I have run out of ways to inconspicuously waste time at work. Livejournal may very well be added to my rotation of time-wasting activities--right in between researching forgotten television shows and top 100 lists on Wikipedia and checking Dal Bookstore online to see if my textbooks are up yet. Other activities of the same are eating bags of chips, one chip at a time, writing copycat Plath and Bukowski poetry, writing out lyrics to Jenny Lewis songs, listening to a LOT of ghetto music, getting glasses of water and then using the washroom.

My favorite (and least favorite) part of work is that my cubicle is right in front of the male and female washroom. You have no idea how many times each person in the office uses the washroom. And it's alarming the amount of people that actually RUN to make it on time. No bladder control at all! The worst kind of people, though, are the ones you can't hear coming. When I'm doing something I'm not supposed to be doing (like right now), I make sure my ears are ready to catch any sound of movement so I can minimize my 'I'm doing something wrong' screen. But man, there are some quiet walkers and lurkers out there...and they ALWAYS see me not working.

What is new in my life...hmmmm....let me think...

I went to visit Caroline in Ottawa which, to date, has been the highlight of my summer. The weather was scorching everyday, but it made the air-conditioning of stores and indoor areas especially heavenly. We saw ETTA JAMES, who is the coolest lady to have ever lived--this close-to-70 year old woman had a "Thug Luva" t-shirt on, and when the audience responded to her sexy songs (and booty dances, which were done in the most sarcastic way), she said "Awww, you Canadians are naaaasstyyy. You like the dirty stuff!" By the end of the show they quite literally had to carry her offstage, but it was pretty much a dream come true to see ETTA JAMES. I almost died, or at the very least, cried a little. Then we saw RIHANNA...she was good! I mean, she's only 18 and has only released 2 CDs, so I wasn't expecting much. SOS was amazing, partly because it's SOS and I'm not sure if there is any way that that song can't be amazing. Then the final night was the coolest night(temperature-wise) and we just sat in the grass and relaxed. WILCO was the headliner...they give the most incredible live performance. I was so impressed. We shopped A LOT and generally had an amazing time. I love Ottawa. I want to move there...and if I do, I will take the bus everywhere I go because their transit system is fabulous. haha

I got my license! And only after the 4th try! It's actually a long story...my car is shit, it broke every time I did a road test, so on my 4th try I took someone else's car and passed on the first try! Being able to drive places alone is amazing. I will probably have my car in Halifax for the first month, which will be refreshing and exciting! Sometimes I think this car will be the thing to kill me, only because it's constantly breaking.

My uncle has moved to Alberta, which means that I got the basement room back again until I return to Halifax. The extra space is a nice change, but alas, nothing can ever be perfect. When my uncle lived with us, he owned numeround lizards, which are fed crickets, a few of which escaped and now reside somewhere in my new home. Crickets only...crick? (is that the right word?) at nighttime right when you would like nothing more than to go to sleep. Sometimes there are some pretty huge spiders hanging around, but I pretend that they're nice and that I haven't heard that rumor about swallowing a lot of spiders in your sleep.

There is 38 days before the long-awaited return to Halifax. And before that I am going to drop Sarah off in Toronto...but we won't talk about that right now.

Currently, I am reading "The Journals of Sylvia Plath", and she is the most amazing woman to have ever lived. If I could meet anyone, it would be her. You should all read it.

I think people are starting to catch on to me...so long for now!
