Pairing: Ganon/Link
Rating: Totally NC-17. Are you kidding me!?
Notes: Um, none. This is intended to take place somewhere near the end of Twilight Princess. However, I subscribe to the theory that this Link is the same Link as in Ocarina of Time and ALL THE OTHERS.
This works in my brain, so you can think whatever you like, but my story won't make sense without this knowledge.
This is unfinished. One day I'll finish it, I swear.
TITLE GOES HERE
Link felt himself growing more uneasy as he walked through the pristine, empty room of Hyrule Castle. It was not as if he'd never been here. He had, though it seemed he'd only ever been here under similar circumstances. He gripped the handle of his sword a little tighter and kept walking. He could hear his footsteps echo, as if there was nothing else even alive here. Of course, that was ludicrous - if nothing else, Ganon was here, waiting for him. Testing him with impossible enchanted suits of armor and those vile little moblins he seemed to favor lately. Although, there had not been anything like that since he'd come in from the courtyard.
It was all very surreal to him. He had expected the palace to be, well...darker. Full of the dark magic that always surrounded the Gerudo King. But it was all light and shining marble, so far. There was something about that unexpected little detail that had Link more on edge than usual. He couldn't place his finger on it, but something was very wrong, here.
He suddenly realized that he hadn't heard anything from Midna in a few minutes. He looked around and called her, and it struck him as if he'd been hit full force - Midna was no longer with him. He felt his blood run cold. That was it. That was what was wrong. Somehow, they had gotten separated. As the realization set in fully, he could hear the laughter rise up around him.
He turned and ran back down the long hallway towards the entrance of the castle. He could hear the laughter growing with every step he took. He felt a knot of dread beginning to form in his stomach and forced himself to run faster.
The heavy iron bar slammed down across the door just as he reached it. He felt something that might have been panic if he had allowed it flow through him and he pushed against the bar, trying to make it move. It would not. He put his sword away, wanting to use all his strength on the door. He could hear the heavy footfalls coming toward him down the hall. He called out for Midna, but he knew that she would not hear. It was futile, and he knew it, but he had to try. However, nothing he tried on the bolted door worked. He heard the footsteps stop, and his heart stopped with them.
He reached for his sword again and turned around, slowly.
The Great King of Evil stood waiting for him, larger than life and twice as frightening. Link could feel that sense of futility growing again as he stared up at Ganon. His hand was clasped around the hilt of his sword, but he didn't dare draw it. It would be like suicide, challenging Ganon when he didn't have any room to move at all. He knew better. But the alternative...what did that mean?
"So quick to put me in my grave, boy?" Ganon sneered down at him. Link did not fail to catch the amusement mixed with the venom in his voice.
He swallowed once, hard, and glared up at the Gerudo king, sure that he looked much braver than he felt. "You're the one that locked me in here," he replied, anger apparent in his tone.
The magic hit him hard enough to make him lose his grip on his sword. He felt his back hit the hard wood of the door, heard the metal clang of his shield as it struck the marble floor. He didn't have enough time - or enough maneuvering space - to recover in time to move out of the way.
Ganon leaned down so they were eye to eye, placing one arm on either side of the boy. "Do you think I locked the door so you would fight me?" he asked. Link felt goosebumps rise across his skin and opened his mouth to say something, but there were no words there.
One of Ganon's hands moved, grabbing Link's face and tilting his chin up. He squeezed the boy's jaw just a little too hard, letting his thumb run across his cheekbone.
Link jerked, trying to pull his face away, but there was only the hard wood of the door behind him and he saw stars in his vision for a moment. This was a bad situation that was undoubtedly only going to get worse. And somehow, he'd walked right into this trap. He couldn't quite pinpoint how it had happened, either, which was maddening.
Ganon smiled at him. Well, it was more like leering, but there was a smile on his face. Link glared at him as defiantly as he could manage - which, all things considered, was pretty convincing. He could feel hatred rise inside him. He was not as naive as he had been the first time they'd faced each other, and he knew what Ganon was insinuating. He'd never give in to this willingly. Never.
