Rutted Roads

I took my middle daughter to a friend's house at the weekend. She lives down a tiny, unmade lane, that's a no-through-road, and the instructions I had were "at the end". I followed this rutted road down a hill in the rain, round a bend, down another hill, up a hill, onto a better made-up part, along a muddy dirt track, more unmade road and out onto a main road! Huh!?!

We went back along the track, better made part, down a hill, up a hill (tyres sliding all the way), and saw the place we were going to. Of course, there was no way to turn around, so I had to drive round the bend and up the final slippery hill before being able to find a turning place.

Then it was sliding back down the hill, round the bend and stopping so I could open the gate and power-up the driveway, tyres sliding under the powr all the way up :/
I dropped her off, drove down the driveway, through the gate, round the bend and slid up the hill.

Two hours later, I had to collect her, in the pitch-black, in heavy rain. No problems, as I knew where I was going and how to drive on the rough-stuff to stop the car sliding.  So it was down the hill, round the bend, through the gate, sliding up the driveway. Then all the way back again.

What do I see today? Apart from a HUGE amount of mud all along both sides, the bonnet, the tyres, etc. of the car, one of my tyres has a puncture. I whip it off, and there's a huge lump of cut flint in it. Grrr.

Oh well, at least it forced me to stop procrastinating and book my car in for a service & MOT.
