perfect is your defect || kindof!kaisoo (jongin/kyungsoo). [pg.] ~340w.
while the rest of the world sees kai, breathing perfection, kyungsoo sees jongin, a little boy shoved into the spotlight.
kyungsoo loves jongin. there's no denying that he cares for the boy a little more than he does any of of the other members. he makes sure there's enough dinner left for him after everyone's eaten, makes sure everyone stays quiet so he can sleep a little longer, makes sure there's still hot water for him to take a shower. he watches over jongin quietly, because it's the only thing he knows how to do.
but kyungsoo hates kai. kai is the one who smirks onstage, who strips freely in front of hundreds, who teases everyone with a simple gesture. kai is the one who flirts with everyone with touches here and there, leans in too close, whispers nothings just to make fangirls scream.
even so, kyungsoo can't bring himself to blame him. that's who jongin trained so long to be, waited so long to achieve. he deserves the fame, the fans, the lights. but while the world sees kai, the epitome of perfection in everything he does, kyungsoo sees jongin, a little boy shoved into the spotlight.
jongin is the one who spent years training, sweating through shirts and working for unreasonable hours. jongin is the one who stayed afterwards to practice longer and harder, because they were screaming in his ears to be perfect. and jongin is just a little boy, and little boys do as they are told.
but at the end of the day, jongin is the one who comes home to kyungsoo, a weak smile on his face as he curls up on the couch beside kyungsoo and they watch stupid dramas until they fall asleep.
kyungsoo loves jongin, there's no denying it. he pulls the blanket around the boy in the cold, gives up half of his lunch to make sure jongin eats well, cleans up after every mess jongin carelessly makes without complaint. he watches over jongin quietly, because he's waiting for the day jongin notices.
(it's just a little sad because jongin only sees d.o., exo's "umma," doing his job.)

a/n: something I totally threw together in twenty minutes while battling writer's block, so I'm sorry it's not amazing. I just really like jongin's dynamics when it comes to writing him. he's a fascinating person to analyze when writing, aha. and I dunno if this is angst but I don't think it is, but I dunno, I'll label it that anyway?
