I told myself a while ago I needed to start using this thing more often. It’s something that’s good to do in terms of getting your thought out, and going back in time its kind of neat to see where you were, say one or five years ago. Doesn’t really work if you update it once every 12 or 13 months. So I think I will try to use this a little more often.
So here's what’s changed since last year:
Terribly exciting. I know. But I suppose instead of looking back this works better if it’s a live snapshot of what’s going on. So here's what’s going on.
Barak Obama gave the commencement speech at Notre Dame, and the most newsworthy part was his stance on abortion. Shouldn’t he be more focused on talking to the students, than focusing on a battle that will never be one? He said something to the fact that both sides need to stop demonizing the other. That’s like asking a fundamental islamist jihadist to not be so angry at the US. Just not gonna happen any time soon. If that were my graduation, I'd be kinda feeling over looked by the whole affair.
Also - the weather guys just confirmed that a tornado did in fact touch down about 20 miles from my house yesterday. Woo Hoo. Oh yea - and a teacher from North Syracuse High School was just arrested for robbing a bank at gunpoint. Think we pay our teachers enough?
Back to the commencement thing. Joe Biden spoke at SU's on Mothers Day. The news guys had alot of kids, saying that he was the best possible speaker; it couldn’t get any better than having Joe Biden, bla bla bla.. then the last kid said "well, it could get better, we could have Obama!" I chuckled. Biden screwed up one of my flights a few weeks ago, and I’m still bitter. Apparently, if you find yourself sitting on the ground at Baltimore Airport, and everything stops moving (I mean EVERYTHING stops moving) it’s probably because Air Force 2 is coming in to pick up Mr. Biden, and the whole airport goes into ground stop. Nothing moves. As long as his plane is on the ground, the airport is effectively closed. Sucks for anyone else. But now I understand why everyone got so pissed with Bill Clinton when he got his haircut on the tarmac at LAX in the 90's. That meant that every other plane on the ground had to stop, and all other traffic was re-routed.
It’s May 17th and we are still talking about frost overnight. I went golfing today; it was 51 degrees with about 20 - 25 knot winds and gusts up to around 35. It was f'in cold. And the range I go to is wide open, so it was COLD. I only hit 2 buckets, and of those about 30 were good shots! But I suppose I’m gettin better all the time.
That’s odd. An ambulance just went by with its lights on. Reminds me of a funny story. My neighbor's kid is shipping off to Iraq in a few weeks, so they held a big blow out party for him the Saturday before mother’s day. Drunken stupor doesn’t even begin to describe what was going on over there. We left early, as we had tickets to a Chiefs baseball game (wow.. that was weak). The next morning, a light pole down the street was found to have been struck by a car that veered off the road. Suspicious? Hmm... haven’t talked to the neighbors about it yet...
Ok so that’s all for now. I’m going to bed. I’m actually going to be in the office for most of this coming week! That hasn’t happened in months!
In closing, I love it that the state police announce that it’s Click it or Ticket week.
