Drove to George's house - loaded up in his Outback then drove to Shreveport. Went straight to venue. Discovered that the video we had purchased and had shipped overnight did not arrive. Met Monk and his VJ Berkeley. Went to The Blind Tiger restaurant with Jason Barefield and Will. Returned to venue and set up gear. Sound checked for 35 minutes. Set up merchandise booth and changed clothes. Sold 6 cds. Started set with strong response but power went out on the outlet circuit we were plugged into 3 minutes into first song. People stayed while George beat boxed into house system microphone. Four to five minutes passed before someone routed us to another circuit. People went nuts as we came back on for few minutes and the power went again in that circuit. The promoter came up on stage, Monk approached me and told me to get him my contact info so he could get me out to Tampa, and the club owner started looking around on stage. George told jokes to the audience over the house microphone then started talkig about my cancer. I showed the soundman that all of my gear was without power and that we weren't drawing very much juice to begin with - so the problem was somewhere further up the line. Finally got power back and once again people cheered. Once again the power went out. It stayed off for about fifteen minutes this time. The club owner went ballistic claiming that nothing could be wrong with his electrical set up since "big name acts play all the time." After all of the visuals equipment was shut off and the soundman rerouted some stuff we got up and running without a hitch for the rest of the show. The promoter mentioned to me some point after the event that someone asked if the power outtage was a staged part of the performance.
