Not too long ago I mentioned to a friend of mine (Brad Slack) that I am a Cubs fan. I don't follow the standings regularly like I did as a kid but I still have hopes that someday they'll break the hundred year dry spell. Brad offered to take me to a game using his Astros season tickets and I took him up on it upon learning the Astros had a home series against the Cubs. As it turned out, he couldn't go to the opening game so he offered both of the tickets to me. Tonia had to work late that day so I called George to see if he was interested. George was understandably reluctant to come down to pick me up but agreed when we arranged for Tonia to pick me up after the game. We arrived a little late and missed the top of the first inning but quickly found our seats - which turned out to be spectacular. We were seated directly in front a large hispanic gentleman with two women he kept refering to as "strippers." The game was really exciting and included an in the park homerun, a rundown between second and third base, a few great catches, a bad call by the umpire on a tag, and several dramatic strike outs during tense key moments. The final score was Cubs 7, Astros 2. I probably confused everyone around us since I cheered anytime either team scored or made a good play. Tonia picked me up afterwards and I ended up watching the rebroadcast of the game on ESPN.
