There are probably only a few people in the world who will understand why this photo makes me so incredibly happy:
That's our incoming President going in for a lay-up against my basketball boyfriend, Tyler Hansbrough. That photo is one of only two things Obama has displayed in his transition office.
And there's VIDEO to go with it! The gray-haired man standing next to Barack is the UNC coach, Roy Williams. I got all teared up at the part where Tyler comes over and shakes Barack's hand. It's my boys! Together! It's my YES WE CAN boys!
See, for me, Tyler Hansbrough started this pendulum swing towards Good when he chose to stay at Carolina for his senior year because he's having so much fun. He loves playing for Carolina, and the NBA can wait. The other four starters had declared themselves eligible for the NBA draft, but when Tyler decided to come back, they all did, too. Four other guys, who might not come from the kind of economically advantageous background that Psycho T does, turned down the possibility of millions to come play another year at UNC.
So I wrap up Tyler's decision, and the devotion he inspires in his fellow players with his work ethic and dogged determination and ability to cut through the bullshit to what's important, with Barack Obama's similar qualities on a much grander scale.
And here they are...together.
